Niagara West-Glanbrook – Today Ontario PC Health Critic Jeff Yurek and Sam Oosterhoff, Ontario PC candidate for Niagara West-Glanbrook, called out the Wynne Liberal government for their lack of commitment to the redevelopment of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
“After promising to replace the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, the Liberal government backtracked and cancelled the $136.8 million project in 2012. I wouldn’t put it past Premier Wynne and the Liberals to promise again to rebuild the hospital in order to garner votes this by-election. But as we have seen in the past, they can’t be trusted to keep their promise after an election is over,” stated Yurek.
The CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences noted in June 2016 that West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is well past its due date in terms of infrastructure. This redevelopment would allow the hospital to ensure quality patient care for services identified as being necessary by the community, and would expand overall operating room capacity.
“I have heard from many constituents in Niagara West-Glanbrook on the importance of rebuilding the current hospital so that it can better meet the needs of patients throughout Niagara. As the Ontario PC candidate for Niagara West-Glanbrook I can promise that if elected, I will advocate for rebuilding the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital,” added Oosterhoff.
“The Wynne Liberals continue to ration health care services due to their mismanagement and waste. Waitlists are growing and too many patients are falling through the cracks. This Liberal Government has failed the people of Niagara West-Glanbrook,” concluded Yurek.
